Real Help, Dignity & Hope
For 35 years, King's Community Care has provided emergency food relief to individuals and families in need. Our 11-year-old King's Op Shop offers affordable goods and furniture to our local community, and through our partnership with Thread Together, we provide brand-new quality clothing to those doing it tough — delivered directly through our Mobile Wardrobe van across Southern Queensland and Northern New South Wales. This gala is more than a beautiful night out — it's an opportunity to be part of something that brings real help to people in our community who need it most.
Our Gala is called Australia Cares because that's a true reflection of one of our national values. Australia cares about —
The solo mum or dad who just received a big bill
The retiree whose pension may pay the rent, but not much else
The family whose main breadwinner just lost their job
The woman who took on her sister's kids when their mum died
The clients living with mental or other health issues, unable to properly care for themselves

We took our Mobile Wardrobe along with food relief to a one-horse town out west. Eleven people attended. One gentleman was fitted out with a few items — including a new pair of dress shoes, which he immediately put on and wore out the door.
We weren't just handing out clothes. We were bringing dignity.
